The 5 Steps of Following Your Excitement
Bashar provides a detailed five-step operational framework for applying the excitement principle in daily life, including how to navigate obstacles, how to release attachment to specific outcomes, and how to know when you have found your true excitement versus artificial stimulation.
I have spoken many times about the principle of following your highest excitement, and I know that for many of you this principle sounds wonderful in theory but can be difficult to apply in the practical moment-to-moment reality of your daily lives. So today I want to give you a very precise, step-by-step framework for how to actually work with this principle.
Step One: Identify your highest excitement in this moment. Not the excitement you think you should have. Not the excitement that makes logical sense. The excitement that, when you imagine acting on it, produces the strongest feeling of aliveness, of rightness, of genuine enthusiasm in your body right now. Be honest. It may be a small thing — calling a particular person, beginning a particular project, exploring a particular subject. Size does not matter. What matters is the quality of the charge.
Step Two: Act on that excitement to the fullest extent possible, with zero attachment to the specific outcome. This is crucial and it is where many people stumble. Following your excitement does not mean you will definitely get what you think you are going for. It means you are aligning with the frequency that will bring you to what your higher mind knows you actually need. The path the universe will take you on is almost never the path your rational mind would predict.
Step Three: When you encounter an obstacle — and you will — do not interpret it as a sign that you are on the wrong path. Interpret it instead as information. Ask: 'Is this obstacle something I need to go through, go around, or is it a redirection pointing me toward something better than what I was expecting?' An obstacle is not a stop sign. It is a navigation prompt.
Step Four: When you have fully exhausted the energy of one excitement — when it feels genuinely complete, genuinely done — simply identify the next highest excitement available in that moment and begin again from Step One. The thread of excitement, followed consistently, links up into a path that your higher mind has already mapped.
Step Five: Maintain the state of an explorer rather than a grasper. An explorer delights in discovery, remains curious in the face of the unexpected, and trusts the value of the journey itself regardless of whether it delivers the anticipated destination. A grasper contracts around specific outcomes and suffers when reality does not comply. Be the explorer.
