Nature Connection — The Medicine of the Natural World

CHNL-HEALTH-012

Bashar explains why human beings need regular contact with the natural world for their full health — the electromagnetic grounding, the frequency entrainment, the consciousness expansion that the natural environment provides.

Your species evolved over hundreds of thousands of years in intimate daily contact with the natural world — with soil, with water, with growing things, with the sky, with the electromagnetic field of the Earth itself. Every system in your biology was calibrated against the backdrop of these natural frequencies. Your circadian rhythms are synchronized to the light cycle of the sun. Your nervous system's baseline is calibrated to the resonant frequency of the Earth's electromagnetic field, the Schumann resonances. Your bioelectric field has a natural relationship with the Earth's charge, which is why standing barefoot on natural ground has measurable physiological effects.

In your current civilization, many millions of people live lives almost entirely indoors, on synthetic flooring, surrounded by artificial lighting and electromagnetic pollution from devices, with very limited direct contact with natural environments. The cumulative effect of this disconnection from the natural frequencies that your biology was calibrated to is significant and largely unrecognized as a source of the pervasive low-grade anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, and immune dysregulation that characterize modern life in your densely populated areas.

Time in nature is not optional for your full health. It is, for a species that evolved within it, a biological necessity. The specific benefits that your research has documented include: reduction in cortisol and other stress hormones; normalization of heart rate and blood pressure; improvement in immune function through exposure to phytoncides — the chemical compounds released by trees and plants; improvement in attention and executive function; and what researchers have called 'awe experiences' that reliably produce lasting increases in wellbeing and a sense of connection to something larger than oneself.

From the consciousness perspective, the natural world is also a field of living intelligence — the distributed, networked intelligence of plant communities, the consciousness of the land itself, the frequencies of wind and water and stone — that resonates with and nourishes dimensions of your being that the built environment cannot access. Time in nature is not merely recreation. It is recalibration.
