The Pineal Gland — Gateway to Expanded Perception
Bashar discusses the pineal gland as the physical correlate of the third eye — the biological transducer that interfaces between physical and non-physical frequencies — and how to support its function.
Your ancient traditions have long pointed to a particular gland in the center of the brain as the seat of the third eye, the inner vision, the point of contact between physical and non-physical reality. Modern science identifies this as the pineal gland, and while science has not yet fully understood its functions, it has recognized some significant properties: it produces melatonin in response to light cycles; it appears to be sensitive to magnetic fields; it produces trace amounts of DMT, the powerful endogenous psychedelic compound; and in early embryonic development, it differentiates from the same tissue as the retinas of your eyes.
From my perspective, the pineal is indeed a significant organ for the transduction — the conversion — of non-physical frequencies into physical perception. It functions, when it is operating optimally, as a kind of biological antenna: capable of receiving signals from frequency ranges above the normal sensory bandwidth and translating them into forms the conscious mind can register as intuition, vision, knowing, or direct perception of non-physical realities.
The condition of your pineal gland is influenced by several factors. Fluoride — particularly sodium fluoride at high concentrations — calcifies pineal tissue over time, reducing its sensitivity. This is a well-documented physiological phenomenon, and the concerns your alternative health community raises about fluoride are not unfounded. Artificial light, particularly blue-spectrum light at night, disrupts the pineal's melatonin production cycles and reduces the depth of the altered states in which the pineal's broader functions are most active.
Conversely, the practices that support pineal function align remarkably with traditional spiritual practices: periods of darkness (particularly deep sleep and meditation); natural sunlight exposure during appropriate times; mineral-rich nutrition; reduced exposure to electromagnetic pollution; and the meditative and contemplative practices that create the coherent, still mental state in which the more subtle functions of the pineal are most accessible.
You do not need to make the pineal a project. Simply honor your body's need for genuine darkness, genuine rest, genuine natural rhythms, and consistent practices of inner stillness. The gland responds.
