The Yahyel: First Contact Civilization

The Yahyel are the fifth and most human-like of the hybrid civilizations. Bashar identifies them as the civilization most likely to make open, public contact with humanity first — what he calls First Contact — because of their nearly human appearance and emotional resonance.

I want to speak to you about the Yahyel — the fifth hybrid civilization, and the ones who have the most direct relevance to your near future.

The Yahyel are the most human-appearing of all the hybrid races that have emerged from the hybridization program. Where I — Bashar, Essassani — am clearly not human in appearance, the Yahyel could walk among you and, at a casual glance, not be immediately identified as non-human. They are taller than us. They have skin that ranges from very pale to a light golden tone. Their eyes are larger than human eyes but not dramatically so. Their features carry a quality that humans often describe as beautiful, even ethereal. They are physically very close to human, because they carry the most human genetic material of any of the hybrid races.

But it is not just their appearance that makes them the most likely candidates for what you call First Contact — the first open, public, acknowledged interaction between humanity and an extraterrestrial civilization. It is their emotional resonance. The Yahyel feel very much the way humans feel. Their emotional spectrum is broad, their individual identities are strong, their creativity is rich. When a Yahyel meets a human, the human recognizes something familiar in them. Something that feels like kin. Because they are kin. They carry your DNA.
