The Infinite Intelligence of the Higher Self

CHNL-CORE-033

Bashar describes the nature of the higher self as the aspect of your consciousness that retains full awareness of its multidimensional nature and provides ongoing guidance, and offers practical ways to strengthen the channel of communication with it.

Let me speak about the higher self — about that aspect of your total consciousness that you might think of as the wisest, most expanded, most fully aware version of you. The higher self is not separate from you. It is you — a portion of the total field of your consciousness that has not fully entered the limiting framework of physical incarnation and therefore retains access to the broader perspective of what you actually are.

Think of it this way: when you incarnate into physical reality, your consciousness does not enter that reality entirely. A portion of your total consciousness — the portion that I am calling the higher self — remains, as it were, above the threshold of physical experience, maintaining its awareness of the larger context: the multidimensional nature of your being, the agreements made before incarnation, the trajectory of your soul's development, the patterns that are playing out in your life from a vantage point beyond the linear perspective of the physical mind.

The higher self is not a distant, separate entity that must be approached with special ceremony. It is the most intimate presence in your existence — more intimate, in a sense, than your own conscious mind, because it is closer to what you actually are at the level of pure consciousness. The fact that it feels distant or difficult to access is not because it is far away. It is because the noise and activity of the ordinary conscious mind — the constant stream of analytical thought, worry, planning, and reactive emotion — drowns out the more subtle signal of the higher self's communication.

How does the higher self communicate? Most consistently through what you call intuition — the quiet, immediate knowing that arrives without reasoning. It communicates through the feeling of rightness or wrongness that you sometimes sense about a situation before you have logically analyzed it. It communicates through the quality of your excitement — what feels genuinely alive versus what feels flat or forced. It communicates through dreams, through synchronicities, through moments of sudden clarity that seem to arrive from nowhere.

To strengthen your conscious access to the higher self: practice stillness — not as an effort to achieve a special state, but as a relaxation from the effortful maintenance of ordinary thinking. Create regular periods of genuine quiet in your life. In those periods, practice listening rather than thinking. Practice feeling rather than analyzing. And practice trusting the first impression — the immediate felt sense — more than the elaborate constructions of the analytical mind. Your higher self is already speaking. It has always been speaking. The practice is learning to hear it.
