Genes and Consciousness: The Biology of Belief

Bashar teaches that DNA is not a fixed blueprint but a dynamic interface between consciousness and biology. He explains that genes are activated or deactivated by the chemical signals produced by thought and emotion—a field now known as epigenetics. Bashar states that your beliefs literally rewrite your genetic expression: the belief 'I am healthy' produces biochemical cascades that support immune function; the belief 'I am aging' triggers telomere shortening and cellular deterioration.

He goes beyond mainstream epigenetics to suggest that consciousness can also influence genetic mutations and even activate dormant strands of DNA that modern science calls 'junk DNA' (which Bashar describes as actually containing codes for higher sensory and cognitive abilities).

He predicts that future humans will be able to consciously modify their genetics for health, longevity, and expanded perceptual capacities.

The practice for now is to maintain beliefs that support well-being, knowing that your cells are literally listening to every thought.
